Dear Parents, Campers, Counselors, and Extended Etta Family,
First of all, a huge thank you to the Sidney Stern Memorial Fund for their amazing and generous donation to Camp Avraham Moshe! They are a BIG reason we are having such a great summer!

Camp Avraham Moshe's third week began with inspirational T'filot this morning followed by some ruach-filled dancing with the help of Michael Felsenthal on the guitar. After a tasty snack, Rachel of Groovy Music led an amazing hands-on music discovery program and Leah Schachter and Raina Himmelman led a phenomenal art activity involving play dough which proved to be a bit messy but extremely fun nonetheless! In honor of Backwards Day we had backwards dancing before lunch and set a Guiness Book of World Records standard for the amount of people who participated in a backwards limbo event. Our sources tell us that backwards limbo has never been done before and it was a huge success. The sun continued to shine its rays on us throughout the day so swimming was a must in the afternoon and the girls enjoyed water aerobics which only made their swimming experience that much more enjoyable. A huge Todah Rabah once again to the Mellon family for welcoming us into their home to use their pool each week! Our closing circle was one to remember as our campers and counselors sang "Thank You God" in harmony, with many of our campers sharing what they are grateful for at Camp and in life. Now that we are beginning our third week of camp it seems that everyone now knows our Camp Avraham Moshe song which makes our closing circle that much more meaningful.

Today was another magnificent day at Camp Avraham Moshe! We welcomed guest educator and artist Tali Merewitz to our camp. Tali taught us about the fast day of Shevah Asar B'Tammuz (17th day of Tammuz) and each camper built their own temple, made out of popsicle sticks, and decorated them as well. Simultaneously, Nehama had an amazing sports activity going on the basketball courts and our morning activities were enjoyed by all. After lunch we had a screening of Toy Story 3 which was amazing! Today was a phenomenal day and we can't wait for Health Day tomorrow!
Wednesday, July 20:
After spirited and rousing T'filot and dancing, Camp Avraham Moshe settled down for a fantastic Personal Hygiene class in honor of Health Day! Led by sports counselor Nechama, we reviewed washing hands and taking showers. We also "shopped" for healthy foods in the Healthy Eating demonstration. Lots of counselors and campers dressed up in scrubs to celebrate our theme! Then Dr. Albert the dentist paid us a visit to talk about our teeth! Campers knew lots about oral hygiene and he was very impressed. Everyone enjoyed the huge model of teeth and gums that he brought in, and most of the camp said they actually *like* going to the dentist! We had healthy snacks of peanut butter and celery and we got to draw our bodies on butcher paper, making sure to illustrate each places we learned about keeping healthy! After lunch we enjoyed swimming in the cool, refreshing pools and we are pumped up for our major trip tomorrow... Scooters Jungle!

Avi: "I like today's special activity for health day. I dressed up as a football player on the Raider's team."
Lexi: "Today we did exercises and dancing for "Health Day." We made celery boats for snack time and put peanut butter and raisins on the celery. It tasted real good. After snack, I went to the dance room and we danced. Then I went outside and we played a special kind of duck duck goose with healthy and unhealthy foods. I shouted out unhealthy foods. French Fries! Then we went back inside and we learned how to brush our teeth and all about reaching the far teeth in the back of our mouths. Now we are going to lunch!"

The pictures from our experience today at Scooters Jungle in Valencia say it all! (See below.) All of our campers and counselors enjoyed every minute of moon-bounce heaven, an amazing slide, basketball hoops, a jungle gym, zip line, and air hockey. Scooters has to be one of the coolest spots on earth! Everyone had an amazing time and it was a great closing day for Stella and Gabe who are going to sleep-away camp tomorrow morning. We will miss you both so much and can't wait to see you back at camp next year! Coming up tomorrow, a wonderful Shabbat party with special guest Brad Schachter. Can't wait to see you tomorrow! :)

Last year, Scooters Jungle was our last trip of the summer. We had a blast, but we're happy we still have more camp to look forward to this year!
Friday, July 22:
Another special Erev Shabbat here at Camp Avraham Moshe as we made decoupage boxes to give toys away in (part of V'ahavta L'reyacha, lovingkindness, theme). We also enjoyed our challah baking and pizza lunch as well as dancing to Brad Schachter's amazing music! Plus, today we worked our inner nerds as part of Nerd Day... dressing up was super fun -- check out the pics below!
