Life Skills/Social Coach/Integration into the Jewish Community   

The Life Skills/Social Coach will be part of the Etta's J-CHAI program, responsible for teaching, coaching and assisting adults with intellectual and/or developmental challenges in all aspects of their daily living to foster independence and ensure their quality of life in the Jewish Community. This is a part-time position, up to 15 hours a week, with a flexible schedule, that may require work on nights and weekends. Your foremost purpose will be to make a positive difference in the daily life of our participants. 

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, with all levels of staff
  • Experience in working with adults with disabilitie
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint/abuse index clearance from Community Care Licensing, if program requires
  • Drive/have a car

Location: Pico Roberston

Compensation: Paid part-time position.

Shomer Shabbos Staff

Etta Israel Center seeks Shomer Shabbos MEN for Shabbos duty in our men’s group homes. Located in the Valley near Chabad, Shaarey Zedek and other shuls.  6 residents.  On-duty from  approximately 4 PM Friday to midnight Saturday night. Duties:  assisting residents in the observance and celebration of Shabbat; walking to shul; socializing; and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents. Must be a US citizen and should be available to work at least one Shabbat per month. Background clearance and training will be required.

Location: Sherman Oaks & Valley Village

Compensation: Paid position.

Sunday DSPs for Activities

Seeking DSPs (Direct Support Professionals) to work on Sunday from 8 - 4 PM or from 4 PM to midnight. Sunday is a fun day for our adult group home residents. It is a day for trips, movies, bowling, parks, basketball, etc. We are looking for individuals who are interested in supervising these activities on Sundays -- this include driving our 8 passenger van. If you already have your DSP certificate - that would be wonderful! Experience is preferred but we will train if you have some background working with developmentally disabled individuals. Candidates must have a valid California driver's license and an excellent driving record as well as be able to pass background check and be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Location: Sherman Oaks & Valley Village

Compensation: $8 to $12 per hour depending upon prior experience

Staff Needed for Religious Girls' Post-High School Program

The Etta Israel Center's Ner Shoshana program is seeking assistance for young adults with developmental disabilities during the 2011/2012 academic year. Full time position: Monday through Thursday 8:00-4:30, Friday 8:00-1:30 pm. Successful candidate will be educated in orthodox Jewish school practices and capable of creating a religiously appropriate environment. Job duties include: supervising students, program planning,  carrying out behavior modification plans, setting and implementing goals for each student.  Applicants must have a high school diploma and experience working with individuals with special needs. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and available to be interviewed in Los Angeles.
