March 19, 1998 Jewish Journal Staff Report The Etta Israel Center has been awarded a $150,000 grant by the Covenant Foundation to create a new Internet site topromote Jewish education for the disabled and to help Jewish studentsand their families find their way through the special-education maze. The Internet site will feature professionally-monitored articles, bulletin boards, chat groups, resources and searchable databases. Disabled students and their support groups will be able to share knowledge, experience, frustrations and successes; school administrators and special-education teachers will be able to interact and improve the delivery of special education. World-renowned scientist Dr. Michael Samet willlend his technical skills to creating and developing the new site. Dr. Samet created the Multimedia Computer Learning Center at the Museum of Tolerance and designed an automobile Internet site that won the 1997 Webby for the World's Best Money Site. |
