The Etta Times
Vol. I, Issue V June 2011 Happy Father's Day! Happy Father's Day to all those great dads out there -- dads of children with and without special needs -- for all the loving care you give to your kids! We know it isn't always easy, but you do it... building your family one moment at a time.
Wed., June 15, 2011, Anaheim, CA -- The graduating 8th grade boys of Etta's Ner Yaakov class went on a graduation trip to Disneyland (courtesy of Mr. Jim Kapenstein -- thank you!). They loved it. One boy had never been, and another had last visited at age 2. They all had the most wonderful time celebrating the momentous occasion of their graduation. Sunday, June 19, Beverly Hills, CA -- Today, the 8th grade boys of Ner Yaakov graduated from junior high. This was a truly incredible event, as they participated with the rest of the school in commencement exercises at Beverly Hills High. Five of the boys from the Ner Yaakov classroom graduated this year, having been a part of the classroom for 2 to 5 years, and will move on to various high schools, including the Mesivta of Greater Los Angeles (in Calabasas) and Yeshiva Ohev Shalom. As his parting words, one of the boys wrote to his teacher, "Thanks for giving me the best year of my life." We feel the same, boys, and we look forward to more best years with more students! Another student said, "Why doesn't every school and every class work like this one? Each boy can learn at his own pace. It was great!" Music to our ears! The Feder Family Group Home and the Sohacheski Family Group Home got new, full-sized beds! Sweet dreams! The Feder Family Group Home celebrated Brandon and Hilky's birthdays yesterday with pizza and cake. Everyone had a blast!
We're gearing up for the best summer yet... in addition to Knotts, Scooters, and Dress-Up Day, we'll be hosting, for the first time ever, Groovy Music with Rachel Seidel! Every week, Rachel will help us blend song, fun and learning in a very unique way. We'll also be having fun on Hollywood Day, during which a celebrity photographer will be taking pictures of our participants and counselors!
